How do I write a better prompt?
Short answer
Be specific. Name the subject, the setting, the light, the camera and the style, and use concrete words like “golden hour” or “35mm close-up” instead of “nice”.
A simple formula
Subject + action + setting + light + camera + style. For example: “A woman in a yellow raincoat laughing on a rainy Tokyo street at night, neon reflections on wet asphalt, 35mm close-up, cinematic.”
Tips
- Put the most important thing first.
- For videos, describe the motion and the camera: “slow push in”, “handheld tracking shot”.
- Say what text should appear and where, in quotes, if you need text in the image.
- Change one thing at a time when you iterate, so you can see what helped.
- Use a reference image when you need a specific face, product or style.
